Shipping and Receiving

The shipping and receiving process typically involves managing a great deal of paper, data entry and often photocopying, making it lengthy and error-prone. This creates an unproductive and inefficient environment for many companies in manufacturing, as they ship and receive materials on a daily basis.

ScerIS’s process optimization significantly reduces the labor found in the manual process of tracking and following shipments. In addition, users experience a decline in the number of phone calls, faxes, emails and spreadsheets normally required to complete processes. ScerIS improves performance by providing more accurate, easily accessible and up-to-the-minute status information on demand. Fewer issues and delays create a more satisfied customer.

Examples of Common Opportunities:

Online Document Access

The record of a shipment, or the bill of lading, typically describes the contents of that shipment. The warehouse or transportation department prepares the delivery document, organizes the shipment and schedules the pickup. The trucking company signs the document, receiving the shipment on their vehicle, takes the bill of lading and delivers it.

At all stages of this processes, the bill of lading is signed and a copy retained by each of the involved parties. These are then used to verify the invoice or delivery. The receiving party approves all items on the bill of lading and forwards the document to Purchasing or Accounts Payable. The receiver is then matched with the PO and vendor invoice when it arrives.

ScerIS simplifies this entire process by assembling all documentation and making it accessible via one single user interface. This enables all shipping documents to become available immediately by multiple users in a distributed environment. In addition, the use of ScerIS automated data capture decreases the manual work and facilitates expedited processes.
