New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo recently announced a new regulation intending to help protect the state from future cyber attacks by requiring banks, insurance companies, and other financial service organizations regulated by the new York State Department of Financial Services to develop and regularly maintain a cybersecurity program designed to protect consumers data.
